PURPOSE OF POSITION:

ARK is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced English Language teachers for a short-term engagement of 6 months, supporting our capacity building project based in our Amman office. The successful candidates will be required to work off-site at the beneficiary training locations around Amman. Candidates must have previously delivered English Language training to adults.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver English Language courses to adults, training to adults from Basic user (A1) Proficient user (C2) using established Cutting Edge English Language series.
  • Develop and deliver a Training of Trainers (ToT) to host organisations teachers. This package will cover developing teaching skills, mentoring, and coaching, and include:
    • Roles and responsibilities of a teacher
    • Learning needs and styles of students
    • Key influences on performance
    • Classroom layout and the training environment
    • Key variables in Learning
    • Facilitation
    • Effective communications
    • Use of visual aids and lesson plans
    • Designing a training event
    • Evaluation of training
    • Improving knowledge and understanding of the English language
    • Developed their own reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
    • Develop their ability to use English in the classroom and for other professional contexts
    • Become more fluent and confident in their use of English
    • Learn the professional language they need to communicate effectively in English, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Plan and create well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of the students and the syllabus being taught
  • Help students develop learning skills that will support them using English on their daily jobs.
  • Create and grade student tests and essays
  • Encourage high standards in all aspects of teaching English language for other teachers
  • Maintain materials and resources as needed
  • Prepare progress reports for Project Manager.

Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

  • BA in English Language or English Literature
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience teaching (must include teaching adults)
  • Comfortable with working with students of different levels
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • A patient and resilient personality
  • Dedication to student learning and education.
