Salary: circa 1020 JOD per month (gross)

About the role

ARK is seeking a Translation and Administration Officer who will provide essential translation support for the project's daily activities, alongside administrative assistance to the project team. The primary responsibility will involve collaborating with the management team to ensure precise, accurate, and professional translation of project documents and correspondence, as well as occasional administrative tasks.

This will be a full-time position which will run from March 2024 until March 2025. Based in Jordan and primarily in Amman, you will normally work normal office hours, Sunday Thursday, although there may be some requirement for occasional weekend working.

What you'll be doing

Written and Verbal Translation:

  • Provide direct written translation service to Project team when required. Project documents for translation will include, but will not be limited to, project reports, correspondence, and training materials.
  • Ensure all translated texts are technically, linguistically, and grammatically correct, error free, meet high quality standards, and do not need further editing after completion of translation.
  • Provide proper, clear, and faithful interpretation during meetings and training, using standard and clear language if required.
  • Check appropriate references to ensure proper use of the technical terminology.
  • Any other appropriate task associated with the programme as requested by Project Manager.

Administrative support:

  • Maintain accurate records of project documents, filling system, and databases to ensure easy access to information.
  • Support project team with administrative preparation prior to SME arrival to country.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the project.
  • Support Mamp;E and data collection by keeping a record of attendance sheets, pre/post-test, student feedback and student assessments during delivery.
  • Support administration of deployment of subject matter experts into Jordan
  • Support the production and printing of project course completion certificates.
  • Accurate updates of project-related documents
  • Other administrative and support tasks as directed.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in translation, interpretation, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in both English and Arabic languages.
  • Bachelor's degree in translation or linguistics.

Desirable

  • Ability to remain objective under pressure with a dedication to evidence-driven progress.
  • Strong, diplomatic interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity with content editing tools.
  • Well organised, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision but skilled and enthusiastic in collaborating and coordinating with other project staff and partners.
